EARTHQUAKE!!!

Walao. I swear I felt the tremors from Choa Chu Kang, Singapore.

My entire room was swaying and I could see my curtains and contents of my cupboard (belts & other hanging stuff) swaying around.

It happened twice; first time for about maybe 10-15 seconds then again after a pause.

I was shocked because being able to feel the tremor in Singapore means that there is a huge disaster elsewhere.

And it wasn't my imagination; I ran out to tell the Empress so we turned on the TV to catch the news- 7.5 richter scale earthquake in Indonesia and 8 richter scale somewhere else.

... Holy shit. I still don't know what to think.

My only regret is not filming down all that shaking going on in my room, cuz SuperCherry thinks I'm exaggerating! AM NOT!

Day out with the English Royal Family: Part II

12 September

The English Royal Family came out to Singapore once again, because the Queen felt guilty that all my 'shopping time' was taken up by her the other day.

She wanted to go back to the shop to exchange some clothes, so we had to make lunch somewhere around Jurong again. Also, we had to compromise on Chinese food for lunch and Western for dinner, because the Queen likes the former and the Princess (ME, lah!) likes the latter! :)

With these criterion in mind, that led us to lunch at...

*****

Ah Yat at somewhere in Jurong. I don't know where cuz I'm such a klutz at directions, I think its somewhere near Boon Lay though.

(I think there is also a branch at Turf City, but DON'T GO THERE because the service sucks ass. But it sucks ass because there's no service charge (10%) so if you can stand shit service, go right ahead cuz the food isn't too bad there.)

Our quick eye for cheap and good food quickly decided us on a Superior Lunch Set Meal (or something along the lines, the "normal" set lunch is also good actually).

First Course:

Photobucket

Shark fin soup with a LOT of shark fin and beansprouts.

Seriously I've never seen such a big lump of shark fin before in my life. This place has some serious good stuff in its meals!

(Sorry, no more pictures after this course because... you'll know when you see it!!)

Second course:

GIANT FRESH Scallop in barbeque sauce!!!!!!!

It sounds like the barbeque sauce will drown out the taste of the scallop, but no! It was awesomely subtle yet barbeque-y and perfect with the scallop. And the scallop was so big it could have been the size of my wrist. (I have a small 5-inch around wrist.)

Third course:

*plays Jaws music in the background*

WHOLE abalone with broccoli and mushroom!!!

This is so common that it's self-explanatory. And of course the abalone was a small one lah. But still bigger than the scallop, though not as yummy.

Fourth course:

Fried noodles.

Blah. Skipped this. I was stuffed already, and I hate Chinese fried noodles. No matter how good the restaurant is, THIS NEVER TASTES GOOD.

Fifth course:

Red bean soup.

Blah. Skipped this. I don't take red bean soup.

That's the end of our five course set lunch, and with all those expensive ingredients inside it, it only cost about $39 per person. Good food, good price! :)

*****

The Queen dragged us back to that shop to exchange her items, and WENT TO TRY SHITLOADS OF CLOTHES AGAIN. Fortunately, they hadn't had any new stock in yet (it was a space of 2 days), so she got 2 new dresses and I took another blouse to fill up the difference.

*****

We then hit Orchard (the King DID say shopping place of my choice), actually we hit Ngee Ann City because I didn't want to drag two tired 50-year-olds around Orchard Road.

My loot? A Guess bag that I have been lusting over ever since I saw it in a magazine while doing my hair!!!!

Bah, I can't seem to find the picture online but I'll post it up sometime!

It cost about $250 but the King says it's to compensate me for not having a holiday trip overseas this vacation. :D

I didn't see anything else of interest so we headed to Art Friends where the Queen spent more than an hour buying a wood varnish. *gesture of despair*

I waited in the shop until my shoulder was aching from my bag so I spent some time outside on a bench catching up with my iTouch. :)

*****

We headed to Petals for dinner without making a reservation (due to the King's overconfidence); big mistake. The place was full to the brim and overflowing, so we had to make alternative plans on a CROWDED SATURDAY NIGHT.

We ended up, on my suggestion, at Suntec for Tony Romas, because stupid me thought COMEX was being held at Expo and not Suntec, to the Queen's chagrin.

There was a queue outside Tony Romas, where we took our places while quietly shaking our fists at the King behind his back.

Fortunately, the line moved fast and we got a shit table somewhere near the entrance.

We were so hungry by then that all we wanted was food, and here it is:

Photobucket

Honey ribs with beef, almost completely eaten up before I remembered to take a photo.

Photobucket

The two sets we ordered.
Honey ribs with beef set, smoky ribs with BBQ chicken set, with sides of mashed potato, fries, baked potato, and a jug of coke.

We chomped, we munched, and it was all gone within a few minutes.
The beef was the King's personal favourite, the Queen adored the honey ribs, while I just munched my way through everything cuz it was alllll good. :)

Total cost: I think it was around $80 or less. Super yummy at a great price!

*****

We were all stuffed so full we could hardly waddle our way back to the car; again it had been a long day and they sent me straight back home into the arms of SuperCherry. :)

Day out with the English Royal Family: Part I

There are two parts to this entry simply because they took the trouble to come to Singapore to bring me out shopping twice in a week. Don't I have awesome godparents?

10 September

It was a Thursday, which means that the King took leave from work just to bring me out for shopping~

However, the Queen had a secret mission around Jurong so we had to head there first.

We were making our way for a quick foodie tea break when the Queen suddenly got VERY VERY distracted by a neighbourhood shop, the kind we usually skip cuz they sell cheapy aunty clothes.

But I was wrong and the Queen was right, because we had stumbled upon a treasure trove! *gleaming eyes*

It was a shop full of branded goods from factory outlets! The Queen spent the entire afternoon trying on clothes and spent more than a thousand dollars on her own while I only got a dress, tank top and 2 Swarovski hairbands (less than $200 in total).

I wasn't really interested cuz the dresses there are all so LONG and I have skinny calves. Besides, the photos of the models show that the dresses are supposed to be above the knee while mine reaches down to halfway through my calf. Yea la I'm short la now shuddup.

*****

We were all starving to death by the time the Queen was done, so we headed straight to where the King recommended for dinner; Valentino at somewhere in a Bukit Timah estate.

Our reservation was for 7.30PM but we were there way too early (hungry, what!) so we got a much better place than the usual crowded room!

Their wine cellar! It's a WALK-IN. Damn...

Photobucket

Random shot outside the restaurant, without flash.
Leading lines LOL.
(BTW I got a B+ for my Photography GEMS. By cheating. =P)

*****

Well, you might have noticed the total absence of pictures of food in this post, but that's because when I took pictures of the place, it was empty; too early for big groups of diners to come into this second part of the restaurant.

Afterward there was an obnoxious and super boastful group of yuppies who came in so I decided not to draw attention to our table with my oh-so-powerful Lumix's flash.

Stupid fuckers were trying to boast "subtlely" about their RICHES, unfortunately it was not as subtle as they hoped it would be. Every minute of the meal I could hear shouts from their table. Super no class for a bunch of educated people trying to feign having accents.

*****

I digressed. The food is of course the most important part of the post right!

We ordered:
Drinks-
San Pellegrino Sparkling Water
(Yes, they fill and refill without asking and it costs more than $10 a bottle)
House white wine
(Not toooo bad for a house wine, quite sweet)
House red wine
(Not nice.)

Starters-
SOMETHINGY cheese wrapped in parma ham
(I only know it wasn't goat cheese, and it was YUMMY)
Shellfish in tomato and chilli stew
(I seriously cannot cope with Italian food names, so sorry)
Salad with SOMETHINGY cheese and pine nuts.
(When I said I didn't want any portion of this, the waiter went "NOOOO. O_O" and gave me a single piece of veg to try. @@")

Main Courses-
Beef chunks in mushroom sauce with mashed potato, drizzled with truffle oil
(YUMMYYYYY but cost $42 if I don't remember wrongly)
Mama's Chicken; so called because it's a family-owned business and the mother of the owner cooks it. It's actually a spring chicken in a claypot with lots of herbs including rosemary and cooked for 4-6 hours.
(We all didn't like this one, nobody expected it to contain rosemary which is really too strong for our Asian taste, plus it costs $48!)

Dessert-
Tiramisu (Self-explanatory)
White chocolate cake; I forgot the name, but that's what it is essentially, and they said that the cream is imported specially from Italy.
(The Queen liked it but it didn't really impress me, it tasted kind of plasticky to me in fact.)

Afters-
Chamomile Tea
(This cost freaking $6 per cup. And we didn't know until we got the bill.)

Total cost? $270.

Overall, the place is good but not recommended if on budget. Highly recommended if trying to impress someone, however be warned that the owner will come in halfway through your meal to charm the socks off everyone at your table.

*****

The poor pale-faced King stumbled to his car and decided to drive me home right away so that he wouldn't have any more unexpected unpleasant surprises for the day. Besides, it was pretty late and we were alllll tired from waiting for the Queen the entire afternoon.

:)

More food~

Yeps, left off blogging again because last week was SUPERCHERRY WEEK.

SuperCherry is officially 26 and I'm glad that I've got him cuz he's also a super chef!

GOOOOOOOD FOOOOOOOOOOD

The Emperor found a shop where there is cheap live seafood so almost every weekend he will buy something back to cook and eat.

I've only taken pictures twice because I'm too busy eating, but this is what we had:

1 August 2009

Photobucket

Lobsters, normal crabs, oysters.

Photobucket

Giant oyster, already eaten by me as can be seen. :D

29 August 2009

Photobucket

Alaskan Crab and oysters!

Night out with SuperCherry & Transition people!

Still 28th July 2009

So I took a cab from the Central to CHIJMES to meet SuperCherry and his colleagues.

In case anyone noticed, I was cabbing everywhere on that day and my total expenditure on cab fare was like SIXTY BUCKS. WTF.

And also the uncle who brought us to the Central from Bugis actually tried to drop us at the Clark Quay taxi stand. EH HELLO! If I wanna walk I'll just take the bloody MRT right?! Anyway we forced him to bring us to opposite the Central and he waived the $3 ERP for us. -_-

Anyway, met up with SuperCherry at the Hog's Breath Cafe.

Photobucket

The birthday boy, CCC!

Photobucket

Looks damn yummy hor?
I mean the cake, not the birthday boy. =P

Photobucket

The peopleeeeeee.

We went out to the back of the restaurant for pool and drinks, but SuperCherry wasn't feeling well so we left fairly early.

Day out with Jing Han!

28th July 2009

Met up with Jing Han after school; she was supposed to pass me some contact lenses but we decided to take the entire day out because we meet so SELDOOOOOOOOOM!

Photobucket

At some Japanese place in Ion, because it was so crowded EVERYWHERE.

We walked the entire Orchard, got bored, cabbed to Bugis, got bored, and cabbed to the Central to chill.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Crazy girl taking all the pictures she can at Sun with Moon.

Photobucket

Photobucket

My beef and foie gras.

She wasn't feeling well so she only had a tofu cheesecake. Which was puny!

I once swore I would never touch foie gras because of the cruelty to the goose, but I reaaaaaaally wanted to know what the big fuss was about so I tried it.

... I wanna have it again. Damn its good.

Photobucket

Still taking pics. -_-

Photobucket

Trying to be artsy fartsy again.

Photobucket

Roy call to check up on her liao lor!

Photobucket

My dessert!
Some chocolate thing. I seriously cannot remember.

At about 8.30PM I got a sudden call from SuperCherry asking me to join him in his colleague's birthday celebration, so I went! But the title of this post is not suitable so I shall make a new one. Hehehe.

Class phototaking!

6 August 2009

When I received my yearbook for last year, Jasmine and Lian Bei flipped through it (they didn't buy theirs) and commented that there was this girl who was pretty.... because of her fake eyelashes.

Then Jasmine said that this year would be her turn to look good in fake lashes, cuz it's our final year!

So of course I jio all the girls to wear fake eyelashes together for the phototaking lor, but I ended up the only one because Jasmine had swollen (!) eyes that day.

As usual, the girls decided to camwhore in the lecture after the official phototaking session with these results:

Photobucket

It started out with just us...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

... and we started taking shifts to be the photographer...

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

... then we ambushed the girls...

Photobucket

Photobucket

... and we dragged the girls to ambush the guys with us.

Then lecture started and ended our happy photo session. Pfffffft!

P.S. And that's my current hair colour. :)

Photo diarrhoea

Yes you saw that right! I'm going to do the unthinkable and post a photo diarrhoea entry because I found lots of unconnected photos in my phone.

2 May 2009

I think most people in Singapore who go to Orchard Road should have seen the orange Lamborghini that is usually around the area.

But has anyone seen...

Photobucket

... an orange Mercedes?

LOL, we (WonderPrawn & SuperCherry) spotted this when we went to Jalan Kayu or Pasir Ris (I can't remember which cuz we went to both) with Edwin to pick up some corals for the Emperor's birthday.

6 May 2009

Photobucket

Lovely full moon on my way home from SuperCherry's house!

You're going to DROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Photobucket

May not look impressive at first...

Photobucket

With pepper is for him, without is for me. :)

Photobucket

Can see how juicy the meat is?!

Hehehe. SuperCherry went to the wet market at Yew Tee to get these crayfish (while I hid in the nearby 7-11 because of the stench there) and then dreamt of a way to cook it. So we did it and it was YUMMYYYYY!!!

9 June 2009

Photobucket

Went out with Jesxeca to the airport for POPEYE CHICKEN and Wan Zhai (?).
I'm such a pig. :)

13 June 2009
